Guy Clark Songwriting legend Guy Clark doesn't merely compose songs; he projects images and characters with the kind of hands-on care and respect of a literary master. Clark works slowly and with strict attention to detail, and has produced an impressive collection of timeless gems, leaving very little waste behind. The emotional level of his work, as well as the admiration and esteem of his peers, consistently transcends sales figures and musical genres. Using everyday language to construct extraordinary songs for more than 35 years, Clark continues to be the type of songwriter whom young artists study and seasoned writers, as well discriminating listeners, revere.
Jubal Lee Young Jubal Lee Young's
songs are reckless, deep and spiritual, meticulously crafted and delivered by an amazing
voice that can go in a heartbeat from a falsetto whisper to a lions roar. Young has experienced
lifes darker sides, yet transcends them in his songs. Along the way, he came up with
a unique sound that encompasses the diverse styles of the musically fertile Southland, but
with a genius for intelligent lyrics and wry humor that is altogether fresh. Jubal Lee Young is a
musical force to watch for. Intrinsically talented, this Nashville native's newest,
self-titled CD is seamlessly lined with his original writing, an exciting voice and sound
that instills a thrill to the adventure. Here is no complacent effort: you feel him
stretch with a motivation instilled from the sheer joy of survival, berating the corrupt,
bewildered by loss, yearning to love and to realize some exalted goal. His is a voice both
commanding and free, attached to a decent conscience, a fierce mind, and set to the kind
of melody that imbeds itself long after the song is heard. The only son of
singer-songwriter Steve Young (Seven Bridges Road, Lonesome Onry and Mean) and Terrye
Newkirk (My Oklahoma, Come Home, Daddy), Jubal grew up around the best of the 70's and
80's Country, Folk, and Bluegrass artists, who happened to be his parents amazing circle
of famous and infamous friends. Jubal Lee Young has learned from the greats, first-hand, right there at the kitchen table. You can hear it. Hes the real deal. |
